PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- An early morning dryer fire in Peoria has displaced 12 people from their home.
It happened in the 2000 block of West Millman at 3:21 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters arrived and were met with dark smoke coming from the front of the home, according to a release by the Peoria Fire Department.
Crews later found a clothes dryer on fire on the main level of the home.
Despite the fire being contained to the dryer in the bathroom in the back of the home, it did suffer major smoke damage throughout.
The dryer was removed from the home by firefighters.
Damage is estimated at $6,000.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by equipment failure.
No one was injured.
