PEORIA (WEEK) -- Some Peoria area businesses have closed early on Sunday due to concerns of protests.
The two Peoria Walmart locations at University and Allen have closed until 7 a.m. Monday, as well as the East Peoria location, according to its website.
At the East Peoria Walmart, pallets stacked with wrapped material were seen blocking the entrances to the store.
Northwoods Mall and police have barricaded entrances to its parking lots.
The closings come after several nights of protests, riots and looting across the country following the death of George Floyd.
On Saturday night, a large crowd gathered outside of the Walmart in East Peoria, when bricks were thrown at officers who then responded with pepper bullets.
A small fire was also set outside of Lowe's but was extinguished by East Peoria firefighters.
No one was injured in that incident.
