Seventh COVID-19-related death reported in Peoria County

PEORIA (WEEK) -- Peoria County is reporting its seventh novel coronavirus (COVID-19) death Friday.

The latest death is a 50-year-old man who had multiple comorbities, said Peoria City/County Health Department Administrator Monica Hendrickson. The man did not live at a long term care facility.

Peoria County also reported seven new cases Friday to bring its total to 176.

Tazewell County announced one new cases for a total of 66. Woodford County remains at 18.

The Tri-County area's total rose to 260.

Of the 260 cases, 83% have recovered, while 10% are at home in isolation and 3% are hospitalized.

Area hospitals are reporting five COVID-19 patients are in the ICU, with two individuals in the ICU who are under investigation of having the virus.

As of 2:45 p.m. Friday, the Heartland Health Services testing center in the East Bluff reported 73 tests.
