Two new COVID-19 cases reported in Peoria County

PEORIA (WEEK) -- Peoria County is reporting two new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases Thursday, to bring the county's total to 169.

Tazewell County remains at 65 confirmed cases and Woodford County Stands at 18.

The Tri-County area total is now at 252 cases.

Area hospitals are reporting the lowest to date number of intensive care unit beds in use for COVID-19 patients with five -- four are in use for those who have tested positive and one is in use by a patient under investigation for having the virus, said Monica Hendrickson, administrator of the Peoria City/County Health Department.

The hospitals also report 13 non-ICU beds are in use by those who tested positive and those under investigation.

Heartland Health Services reports as of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, 90 tests were conducted at its East Bluff testing site.

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported at the daily briefing. The Tri-County area has previously reported a total of 11 deaths.
