Peoria kids treated to lunch for making the grade at home

PEORIA (WEEK) - Lunch was on the house for some Peoria school kids to reward them for making the most of remote learning while staying at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Rumbergers teamed with Peoria Public Schools, and delivered more than 500 meals to students.

Principals from each Peoria school chose 25 students to reward them for their academic efforts.

"We've seen a lot of great engagement and the kids are really stepping up," said Thomas Bruch, the school district's director of communications.

"We're just trying to keep encouraging kids (to) keep doing great, finish strong here at the end of this school year, and hopefully this helps," Bruch also said.

The transition to e-learning was difficult at first, but rewards like this are a great incentive for students, a parent said.
