The Peoria City Council voted to continue discussing a plan to offer more discounts on security cameras.
Last year the city set aside $50,000 for a program that let residents buy subsidized RING doorbells and cameras.
They said more than 400 devices were sold in just a one day event, but they still have $29,000 left over.
RING is no longer providing subsidies to the public in conjunction with municipalities.
So City staff is preparing a policy that will be presented to Council at the first meeting in March that will work to ensure any reimbursement will be to valid residents of Peoria that sign up with the City’s voluntary camera registry program.
