PEORIA (WEEK) -- Police searching for a suspect after a cellphone store in the 2500 block of Reservoir was robbed Tuesday.

Police were called to the Metro PCS, 2519 W. Reservoir, for a robbery at about 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, Peoria Police spokesperson Amy Dotson said.

The suspect entered the store and pretended to look at the phone selection, and once other customers left, he told the employees he was there to rob the store and that he had a weapon, Dotson said.

The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a blue jacket, black pants and a surgical mask over his face, said Dotson.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous. Police are asking anyone to not attempt to approach the suspect.

Police are asking for the public's assistance and are asking anyone with information to call the department at 309-673-4521 or Crime Stoppers at 309-673-9000.
