NORMAL (WEEK) - The town council in Normal is expected to decide Monday night whether to give the city manager a pay raise that would boost her salary above her predecessor's pay.

Mayor Chris Koos is recommending the council raise Pamela Reece's salary by $5,550 to $190,550.

The town council promoted Reece two years ago from her previous job as assistant city manager to replace retiring city manager Mark Peterson. Peterson made $189,000 in his last year on the job. He was Normal's city manager for 20 years.

Reece is entering the final year of a three-year contract. Mayor Koos said in a memo to the council that the proposed salary increase for Reece "reflects a fair and competitive wage" for the city manager's position.

Reece is only the third city manager in Normal's history, and is the first woman to hold the position.
