Snow and Frigid Cold Coming

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Wednesday PM through Thursday AM for all of the area. That's for 3+ inches of snow accumulation, plus frigid air that gets driven in by the wind.

Timing & Impacts: Snow starts around mid-afternoon Wednesday, tapering off early Thursday. You'll need extra time on the roads. Expect roadways to get nasty especially during the night-time hours as this system continues to lay down snow.

Forecast Snow Totals: Most of us can expect 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation with slightly higher amounts possible to the east of the Illinois River valley. Lesser amounts will occur west of the valley.

What You Need To Know: Be safe; it will be windy on the back side of this system as well.

7-Day: Temperatures drop significantly Thursday. Lows will be below zero by Friday morning, with wind chills as cold as 10 to 20 degrees below zero.

Be safe and stay tuned for the latest.
