Teen boy arrested for Peoria shooting

PEORIA (WEEK) - Peoria Police said they arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to a shooting from Sunday, Feb. 2.

In a news release, police said the shooting happened around 10:09 p.m. Sunday. Police first learned about it from a ShotSpotter alert in the 900 block of W. Johnson St. On their way to the scene, they received more information about a shooting victim inside the Johnson Mini Mart on 907 W. Johnson.

A man was inside the store with a gunshot wound on his leg. He was taken to a local hospital, and was expected to be okay.

During their investigation, police identified a suspect; a 14-year-old boy.

Friday, police arrested the boy for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Mob Action with Injury. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Peoria.
