PEORIA (WEEK) -- With the snowfall overnight, into Thursday morning, the Peoria Public Works snowfighters are out clearing roadways.
Public Works Assistant Director Sie Maroon said Thursday morning the main roads are in "good condition with some areas of snow, slush and wet pavement, but by all means very passable."
As of 8:45 a.m., the snowfighters were working on the main streets and emergency snow routes, with efforts being switched later to treating residential street intersections with salt and liquid brine
"However, as we are only treating intersections today, our plan is to forego plowing curb to curb for the duration of this snow removal effort," Maroon said.
Moving forward, Public Works will be taking advantage of the warmer air and ground temperatures to help with melting the snow.
