KEWANEE (WEEK) - Kewanee Police are urging parents to keep a close watch for suspicious activity on their children's social media accounts after a Galesburg man allegedly used Facebook to entice an 11-year old child to have sex with him.

Police arrested Alan J. Beaty, 52, at his Galesburg home after authorities received a complaint Jan. 29 that Beaty was sending sexually explicit photographs to the child.

It's alleged Beaty also wanted the youth to send sexually explicit photos to him and tried to arrange a meeting with the child.

Beaty faces preliminary charges including indecent solicitation to commit predatory sexual assault, which is a Class 1 felony. If convicted on that charge, he faces a mandatory sentence of between 4-15 years in prison.

He's being held on $500,000 bond prior to a Feb. 10 preliminary hearing in Henry County Court.
