BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) -- You know it's a birthday party when the fire department shows up. But this time, no one was in trouble.
It started last Saturday when Bloomington firefighters bent their own rules a little bit to stop by a birthday party.
Once there, they gave party-goers a tour of BFD Truck 2.
But just down the block, Ashley O'Rourke was throwing a fire truck-themed first birthday party for her son, complete with fire truck balloons on the mailbox.
As they were leaving their first stop, the firefighters saw the balloon and knew they had to make a second stop.
The result was adorable.
O'Rourke says the firefighters "made everyone's day and made my son's party so special! Thank you so much for all you do!"
In a Facebook post, BFD noted that making these kinds of stops are technically against department policy, but this time was worth it, adding "thankfully, not all stops are for fires and accidents."
