BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) -- A Bloomington surgeon facing several sexual assault charges pleaded not guilty to all charges in McLean County court Friday.
One of the charges against Shaun Kink is aggravated criminal sexual assault of a handicapped person, a Class X felony. He is also facing felony charges of criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse.
Kink's attorney Peter Wise did not comment on the plea, but said they are going to try the case and work for "the best possible outcome."
Kink will return to court March 2 for a status hearing.
Kink was arrested January 15 by Bloomington police on charges stemming from a December 5, 2019 incident that involved an adult female and alleged forced oral sex.
Kink is no longer employed at McLean County Orthopedics (MCO).
In a statement, MCO's CEO James Schaefer said, "We were shocked and saddened to learn of the criminal charges filed against Dr. Shaun Kink recently. Dr. Kink is an orthopedic surgeon who worked for MCO for more than two years; however, he is no longer a member of the staff of McLean County Orthopedics. Beyond that, we are unable to comment."
Schaefer also said the patients Kink was slated to see have been accommodated.
"In the meantime, we have re-scheduled patients with other MCO practitioners, and will continue to focus on providing the very best care to our patients," Schaefer wrote.
