PEORIA (WEEK) – One group of veterans is using self-expression as a form of healing.
They’re part of “22VA” – a name that represents the 22 veterans who take their own lives each day.
The group hopes to encourage those suffering from PTSD to find a healthy way to deal with their pain.
“Some of the art I made when I was in a dark place really helped me to express myself, so we want to teach other vets to express themselves,” said 22VA founder Michael Ragan.
Congressman Darin LaHood was among those who stopped by to see the exhibit.
It’s open to the public at the Peoria Public Library’s downtown branch through the end of January.
