Snow, Rain, a Wintry Mix, Wind, Cold

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Bundle up! Winter weather and frigid temperatures are headed to central Illinois.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of the viewing area today and Saturday. That's for the mixed bag of precipitation we're expecting and the wind that'll come along with it. The advisory runs from noon today through 6 AM Saturday.

Precipitation Type and Timing: We'll get a little bit of everything.

Expect snow on the onset of the system Friday afternoon into the evening.

As temperatures will climb in the evening, sleet and freezing rain will take over.

We then get around an inch of possible rain overnight into Saturday morning while we're in the warm sector of this system, before temperatures take a drastic drop causing a sloppy mess.

Forecast Snow Totals: We'll see accumulation of 2-3" likely for the Peoria-Bloomington metro areas.

Forecast Ice Totals: Freezing rain and sleet will happen for a few hours this evening. Be safe!

Frigid Temperatures: After this system exit, we'll see lows near 0° and wind chills as cold as 15 to 20 below. Bundle up!

7-Day: Cold weather lingers into the first part of next week.
