(WEEK) -- The Illinois High School Association will soon be looking over proposals and bids for possible site changes to the boy's and girl's state basketball tournaments.
According to a summary of the Board of Director's January 15 meeting, the IHSA received proposals and bids from various sites to host the state tournaments for the next three seasons.
Each will be reviewed by the IHSA to provide a recommendation to the board for a vote at the April 15 meeting
One proposal would shift the boy's state tournament from the Peoria Civic Center to the State Farm Center at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Another proposal was submitted to keep the girl's state tournament at Redbird Arena at Illinois State University.
The IHSA listed them as proposals, not as bids.
However, a bid was submitted to host both the girl's and boy's tournaments at the Peoria Civic Center, and another to host just the boy's tournament.
Currently, the girl's tournament is hosted at Redbird Arena, where it has been held since 1992.
The boy's state tournament has been a mainstay in Peoria and will have its 25th anniversary this year.
Proposals and bids were due to the IHSA office by January 10. Each consists of three seasons through 2023.
“We are humbled and appreciative that these three communities continue to see tremendous value in hosting our prestigious state tournaments. The IHSA has longstanding ties to all three communities through several State Final Tournaments, including America’s Original March Madness."IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson
