PEORIA (WEEK) – UnityPoint Health has a new president to lead their UnityPlace Behavioral Health Services.
Dr. Ted Bender was selected to lead the behavioral health and addiction services, effective January 2.
“Dr. Ted Bender’s valuable experience in managing dual diagnosis treatment centers and his passion for strategic planning will be valuable assets to take UnityPlace’s services to the community to the next level,” said Dr. Keith Knepp, President and CEO of UnityPoint Health – Central Illinois. “We are thrilled to have such a strong leader join us to support our efforts to improve patient access, experience and care in Central Illinois”
Dr. Bender comes from UnityPoint Health in Forney, Texas where he served as CEO of The Treehouse Addiction Campuses, a 180-bed facility providing treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders.
He said he’s fully committed to developing and driving an integrated strategy to increase access and services for addiction and mental health services in Central Illinois.

Dr. Bender has a strong foundation in clinical psychology, earning his BS, MS and Ph.D. from Florida State University and an MBA from Texas A&M.
He completed his doctoral residency at Brown University – The Warren Alpert School of Medicine and is currently enrolled in the Harvard Business Analytics Program in Data Analytics with expected completion in 2020.
