NORMAL (WEEK) – Morning anchor Luke Burdsall wanted to get a taste of the unique Mediterranean and American spot in Normal serving up to loyal customers since 1999.

This month marks 20 years the Twin Cities have made one restaurant a personal favorite of locals, college students and even some out of towners.

The Rock Restaurant is a spot in normal that brings it’s “unique flair” to a variety of dishes.

What makes their offerings stand out?

Well, they serve food inspired by a few different backgrounds.

“We have to mis our menu in a way that everybody who comes in can find something that they like,” said co-owner Charbel Saliba. “So it’s a mix of Mediterranean and American food.”

Saliba said despite having American offerings, overall the top sellers are the Mediterranean fare.

“Gyro is definitely our number one selling,” he said. “We make everything from scratch here.”

“So, gyros and falafels are the number one and number two sellers.”

So when it came to decide what to eat, the super gyro kept catching the eyes.

“That’s what the super gyro is,” Saliba said. “So you put the onions, tomatoes, black olives, feta cheese and of course, the cucumber sauce.”

“That’s also one of the most selling sandwiches.”

Would you look at that!

Putting hands around that super gyro was a challenge in of itself.

Sides today were hummus and pita – they say the pita is made from scratch every day.

The total damage done?

A mere $9.79.

With the quality food you’re getting for the price you’re paying, you should consider The Rock the next time in your Normal.

Because you gotta eat!

The Rock is located at 203 W. North Street in Normal and is open seven days a week – 11-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11-4 p.m. on Sundays.

They’ll be holding a 20 year anniversary special during the first 20 days of 2020.

They are bringing the prices down on the gyros to what they were in 1999 – just $4.
