PEORIA (WEEK) – Peoria firefighters are on scene of a fire at Getz Pressure Washing in the 1400 block of Southwest Jefferson Avenue.
No one was inside the building at the time and flames were “sky-high” according to a police officer who arrived on scene.
The call came in as a fire alarm and a passerby reported flames.
Fire was located inside one bay, extending to the attic portion of the office.
Four engines as well as one ladder truck – all told 21 firefighters – arrived to fight the flames.
It took 25 minutes to extinguish the fire.
“It can be very dangerous, especially a building of this type,” according to Battalion Chief Nate Rice. “It can be very slick and you’ve got to be careful up there.”
According to a press release, damage is estimated at $200,000 and the cause is under investigation.
