A portion of highway has officially been renamed to honor a fallen Illinois State Trooper.
Family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officials gathered in Downers Grove Thursday to remember ISP Trooper Christopher Lambert.
The 34 year old father of two was killed along I-294 in Cook County last January.
Lambert was helping the victims of a 3 car crash when another vehicle failed to stop, hitting and killing him.
Now, a portion of I-294 bears Lambert's name, something one of the sponsors of that resolution hopes keep the Trooper's memory alive.
"There are no words I can share to bring back Chris or other loved ones we've lost this year. But, I pray all of you can find peace in the remarkable integrity and service Chris brought to our lives," shared State Representative Bob Morgan.
Three Illinois state troopers including Lambert were killed in crashes this year alone.
