Richwoods app creators win award, head to DC

PEORIA (WEEK) – Five girls at Richwoods High School created an app – and now it’s an award winner.

They made the app for Wildlife Prairie Park.

It includes interactive maps, coupons, event calendars and more.

The team of four then submitted their work to the 18th District Congressional App Challenge – and won!

Richwoods junior Cassidy Miles-Coleman said this award is payoff for months of hard work.

“We came here nearly ever Saturday for our summer and to see all of our hard work pay off into this

award…” she said. “It’s just really awesome to see all of it come together into this and really understand

that it was all worth it.”

Miles-Coleman said they worked with Wildlife Prairie Park all year to create the final product.

The Richwoods AppsCo team will head to Washington D.C. in the spring to compete for the national award.
