New business takes over former Tannins and Hops space

PEORIA (WEEK) – Riverfront speakeasy Tannins and Hops closed in August, but a new restaurant is breathing fresh life to the location starting this week.

The new establishment is named “Mack’s,” after owner Ken Allison’s wife’s grandfather.

It’s got a unique atmosphere, taking on a look inspired by old garages like the one the grandfather used to own.

A soft opening started at 4 p.m. today, Thursday.

It will open to the public tomorrow.
