Morning house fire causes an estimated $10K in damages

PEORIA (WEEK) — No injuries were reported in a morning fire in Peoria’s south side Monday, but there was about an estimated $10,000 of damages, according to a release by the Peoria Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the scene just after 3:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of West Smith Street to find smoke coming from the house with flames showing inside of the house.

The fire that was found in the kitchen was extinguished in 10 minutes. Damage was contained to the kitchen and outside wall, but a window and siding had to be removed, according to the release.

Red Cross was notified for housing for two adults and two children.
