PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) – The staff at this week’s You Gotta Eat will tell you it’s more than just a restaurant – it’s a family.

When you walk into Gebby’s Family Restaurant, you’ll smell the great food and feel the family atmosphere.

Just ask the regulars.

“They are a family, they’re wonderful,” said regular customer Shirley Marie Smith.

“You feel the welcome,” said regular customer Louis Waasom. “That’s the main thing.”

And the welcoming mindset is echoed by staff like Bobby Williams, a manager at Gebby’s.

“We always smile and treat’em like they’re family, because to us they are family,” he said.

After Jesse and Larry were welcomed in, we made ourselves right at home.

Larry went for the lunch special, which was roasted pork loin on this day.

He got that with sides of mashed potatoes, corn and bread.

Jesse? He took notice of the “fluffiest omelets in town” on the menu and chose the Denver supreme omelet.

It was fluffy and cheesy.

When you order an omelet, you get toast and another side of your choice – fries, grits, or hashbrowns.

Jesse chose the hashbrowns…and they were great.

And the good food keeps the customers coming back.

“…daily, some of ‘em come in twice a day, for breakfast and lunch,” Williams said. “I love it.”

Williams said everything sells well.

Even down to that morning caffeine.

“Their coffee is absolutely wonderful,” Smith said. “It wakes you up.”

So what did Jesse and Larry’s meal run?

Only $22.05, what a deal.

So whether an omelet, the lunch special, breakfast combo, burger, or tenderloin…

“Stop at Gebby’s for breakfast or lunch because you gotta eat!”

Gebby’s has been around for more than two decades.

They’re located on War Memorial in Peoria Heights and are open for breakfast and lunch everyday from 6-2 p.m.
