Pedestrian identified in Wednesday night vehicle crash

UPDATE 8:45 PM – The vehicle has been found and the driver identified, Normal Chief of Police Rick Bleichner said in an email.

NORMAL (WEEK) – McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder has identified the victim killed in Thursday night’s at Veterans Parkway and Fort Jesse Road.

Vincent V. Shorten, 25, died from multiple blunt injuries due to being struck by a vehicle, preliminary autopsy findings indicate.

According to a release from the Normal Police Department, witness information indicates Shorten was crossing Veterans Parkway, moving east just north of Fort Jesse Road.

Shorten was initially struck by a grey minivan traveling north on Veterans.

Shortly after, he may have been struck by another vehicle – believed to be a dark colored full-size pickup truck.

The pickup truck is a vehicle of interest in the investigation.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the pickup, along with the driver and any occupants.
