EAST PEORIA (WEEK) – The public will have a chance to get up close with one of the visiting Budweiser Clydesdales.
On November 22, from 5-7 p.m. Hitch Against Hunger will give people the opportunity to have a photo taken with a Clydesdale in exchange for a canned food donation, which will then be given to Sophia’s Kitchen, according to a release from the City of East Peoria.
The Clydesdale and its trailer will be located at the intersection of Washington and Richland streets where the photos will be taken. An East Peoria police squad car and East Peoria fire truck will also be on display and candy will be given out.
The Budweiser Clydesdales are in town to appear in the 35th annual Festival of Lights Parade, starting at 5:45 p.m. on November 16, weather permitting.
The Clydesdales have not appeared in the parade in the last 15 years.
To qualify to be on a Budweiser Clydesdale hitch, a Clydesdale must be a gelding with an even temperament, be at least four years old, stand at least 72 inches tall at the shoulder blades when fully mature, and weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds.
