PEORIA (WEEK) — The city of Peoria and Mayor Jim Ardis are facing a new lawsuit revolving around the Pere Marquette.
The Peoria Journal Star reports the lawsuit was filed this week in Peoria County court by GEM Hospitality, which used to own the downtown Peoria hotel.
GEM is seeking $29 million and is accusing the city of intentional actions leading to the company filing for bankruptcy, something officials say could cost taxpayers million, the Journal Star reports.
The company’s two main members also sued the city back in March as individuals.
Peoria’s attorney tells the paper he hasn’t had time to review the lawsuit, but said it appeared to be the same as the one already pending in Peoria County court.
