Fire damages vacant house, believed intentionally set

PEORIA (WEEK) – A fire at a vacant house in Peoria is believed to have been intentionally set.

Firefighters responded to the 1900 block of North Maryland around 6:37 p.m. to smoke coming from the front of the boarded up, vacant house according to a press release from the fire department.

Fire was found in a back room and was extinguished within 10 minutes of arrival and firefighters cleared the scene around 7:58 p.m.

The house sustained heavy smoke damage, however.

No one else was found inside the residence and no injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.
