NORMAL (WEEK) — As Rivian gears up for its public event in uptown Normal on Sunday, the city announced some roads will be closed during the unveiling of the company’s electric adventure vehicles.
The open house will be on Sunday, October 13 from 1-4 p.m. with the vehicles on display in Uptown Circle in Normal.
The following roads will be closed at 8 a.m. Sunday:
- North Street from Broadway to Uptown Circle
- Constitution Blvd
- Uptown Circle
- E. Beaufort Street from Uptown Circle to the alley between Emack and Bolio’s and Insomnia Cookies (alley will be open to traffic)
- W. Beaufort from the Circle to the entrance of the Uptown Station parking deck
Parking will be free in the College Avenue, Uptown Station and Beaufort Street parking decks.
Additional parking is available in the Trail East, Trail West, and Parkinson lots for the day, with posted time-limits not in effect. Streets will reopen following the conclusion of the event.
Attendees will be able to view the R1T pickup, R1S SUV and the company’s skateboard technology in person.
A temporary storefront with company history and plant photos will be on display at One Uptown Circle.
