PEORIA (WEEK) — A Peoria home burned down in the overnight hours Thursday, which fire investigators ruled as arson.
Peoria firefighters were called to the 700 block of North East Madison Street just before midnight for a house fire.
When crews arrived, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the main floor.
Firefighters were able to knock down the fire in 30 minutes despite running into hose line and mechanical issues, according to a release by the Peoria Fire Department.
No one was in the residence at the time of the incident.
After an inspection, code enforcement sent demolition crews to the scene to raze the burnt home.
The estimated damage is $170,000.
