EAST PEORIA (WEEK) – There’s a new choice in the food scene in Central Illinois and it’s a sure bet you’ll be coming back for seconds.
Tin Lizard opened recently at the Par-A-Dice – Meteorologist Jesse Guinn, along with a new face at 25 News – are doubling down in this week’s You Gotta Eat.
Whether you’ve heard about the Tin Lizard or not, if your taste buds have been waiting to “roll-the-dice,” here’s what’s in store.
From the trendy, interior décor to the beautiful outside view, odds are you’ll be amazed when you walk in.
“The gastropub feel is what we wanted with a big push on the entertainment focus, and then the dining experience as well,” said Carrie McCarty, director of marketing at Par-A-Dice.
Even if you’re not a gambler, this place will make you feel like a high-roller hitting the jackpot.
“Our pork tenderloin sandwich has been a hit,” McCarty said. “We have the meatloaf, bacon-wrapped meatloaf for the dinner option.”
But their best seller?
“The biggest hit we’ve had so far is the grilled cheese brisket sandwich,” McCarty said. “You want to try it.”
Brisket must be the real winner here.
Since Tin Lizard opened two weeks ago, Mark Burbidge has eaten there four times.
He’s gotten something different every time, said the brisket is his favorite.
“Absolutely excellent!” he said. “That’s my favorite so far.”
Mark’s niece works there and so far, he’s been letting her pick his meal of the day.
Call it… “food-roulette.”
But there’s one thing he’s not taking a gamble on…his go-to chair.
“This is my seat,” he said. “And if somebody’s sitting here, I usually wait until they get up, and it’s my seat.”
Luke and Jesse started off with an appetizer, the grilled chicken nachos.
The platter – a full house.
When entrée time came, Luke decided to take Mark’s brisket suggestion, the brisket grilled cheese.
Jesse opted for the pepper jack burger.
Hands were messy, but that gamble paid-off.
There were plenty of leftovers.
If you’re not folding after that and are still hungry like Luke and Jesse, there’s a wildcard waiting for you.
A warm-pan cookie – you may have had one in the past, but bet it wasn’t like this salted caramel winner.
Now if you play your cards right and come in within the next month, you can get lucky.
They’ve got a two-for-one deal where you buy one meal and get the second free.
You can get that deal nay day for lunch, and Sunday through Wednesday for dinner.
It saved us $11.
It would’ve been $55, but with the deal we cashed out at $44.39.
“We want this spot to be the place to come, even if you’re not a gamer,” said McCarty.
So whether it’s the food and drinks, the live music, or the amazing view – Tin Lizard has it all.
“We bet you’d like to try Tin Lizard, because you gotta eat!”
