Serving up coffee to help veterans

At Eli’s Coffee, they’ve come up with a way to support local organizations while serving up some fun flavors of coffee.

For the whole month of October Eli’s Coffee Shops will be brewing up something special.

“It’s a peanut butter s’mores mocha. Your favorite fancy treat over the camp fire encapsulated in a drink,” said co-owner of Eli’s Coffee Rachel Berchtold.

It’s Eli’s “Donation Creation” of the month.

Every time one of these is ordered a dollar goes toward the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

“For us, the Honor Flight is just a neat way to help veterans in the area get closure on that chapter in their lives,” said Weston Berchtold.

Without donations none of our local veterans would receive this free once in a lifetime trip.

“It cost about 85,000 dollars,” said Phyllis Piranio with the Greater Peoria Honor Flight. “Part of that is offset by the fees the guardians pay but we have to raise close to 50,000 dollars every flight and that’s through efforts by the community to help support us through fundraisers like donation creation.”

What’s it taste like?

“It’s got peanut butter, mocha, toasted marshmallow flavoring. It can be done hot or cold. It can be over ice or blended,” said Berchtold.

Don’t like coffee?

The drink also comes in a hot coco too.

No matter how you order it, your Eli’s barista will be ready to serve you!

The special drink can be purchased at all Eli’s locations including Tremont, Morton, and Metamora.
