PEORIA (WEEK) – It’s hard to miss this sinkhole in Peoria, but it will be there for a few more days.
Orange cones are out at the intersection of Spencer and Meyer.
The sinkhole is a few feet deep.
Crews are aware of it and it’s advised to stay away from it until they get there – likely in a couple of weeks.
“it’s not that it’s not important, however, we do have other areas that we’re busy on with our crews right now,” said Bill Lewis, Peoria city engineer. “As soon as we get finished with another repair somewhere else, we’ll jump in and do that one.”
It’s believed the sinkhole was formed over time by a failing manhole cover.
