EDELSTEIN (WEEK) – Remains have been found in rural Edelstein and an arrest has been made in the case of Tiffini Murphy, who vanished over Labor Day weekend in 2018, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Peoria County Coroner.
A man was arrested Friday at 3 p.m. at his home, also in rural Edelstein.
The sheriff’s office received a tip on the whereabouts of the remains, which were discovered on Tuesday and delivered to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
The remains, consisting of bone and other material, have been forensically examined since then and are not in good condition, according to Harwood.
The remains will be sent to a forensic lab in Texas to confirm their identity.
Harwood said Murphy’s family was talked to on Thursday and DNA was collected to do a comparison.
Harwood also said that the remains are not from Alexis Scott or Marc Bohanan.
“Hopefully we can get DNA from it so we can make an absolute positive identification to let the family know it is indeed Tiffini Murphy,” he said.
The man arrested is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Marshall County Courthouse.
