Deb Schultz is the Operations Director of the OSF Healthcare Illinois Neurological Institute, and she wears many hats in the institute’s day to day operation.
Deb’s efforts can be seen in every aspect of the practice. A nurse by training, she has three clinical publications to her credit, two of which helped to facilitate changes at INI. Her poster presentation, Osteoporosis and Compression Fractures, presented at the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing Education Meeting in Seattle, was the precursor of the development of the OSF/INI Osteoporosis Bone Health Clinic.
Another poster on a Multidisciplinary Approach to Prepare Patients for Lumbar Spine Fusion resulted in the development of Spine School, an educational class for neurosurgery patients undergoing lumbar spinal fusions.
Deb was an inaugural member of “NERVES”, a national practice management organization for neurosurgical administrators and served on their board from 2005 to 2010. Deb is accountable for the daily operations of the INI’s practices in Peoria, Bloomington, Galesburg, Ottawa and Rockford.
Supporting 100 providers, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, physiatrists, audiologists and advanced practice providers, Deb does indeed wear many hats and manages to do so with great success.
She has been recognized in the past as the winner of the Spirit of Neuroscience Nursing Award and today we recognize her as a Woman in Leadership.
