PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) – Finding a really good hotdog can sometimes be a challenging feat.
But if you’re in the mood for a hot dog that doesn’t taste like all the rest, you’re in luck!
Welcome to The Other Dawg, where the customers go dog-gone crazy over them.
The Other Dawg is no stranger to Peoria, having moved to a new location in the Heights after nearly nine years off Prospect Road.
Edward Parker, a regular customer, said the prices are very reasonable.
“Great, great food, it’s a great atmosphere,” he said. “It’s a really nice place to have a nice lunch and it’s reasonable.”
“It’s got a lot more room inside so you can actually bring a family of 10 and have a good time,” said Steve Bobbitt, a regular customer of The Other Dawg.
Bobbitt has been a regular customer of The Other Dawg. He says he’s eaten over 100 over the years.
Oh, and he also sings, like someone else you might know.
Not all the customers who visit The Other Dawg sing, but they are all very loyal to the owner, David Streitmatter, and his staff.
“”It makes me feel very good because it makes me think that we’re doing something right that they want to return to have their favorite hot dogs,” said manager Angela Maddox.
And when they do come in for those special hot dogs, it’s the secret meat sauce customers can’t seem to do without.
But do not dare ask for the recipe.
With so many hotdogs to choose from I chose the big daddy of all hot dogs…the Chicago dawg.
It came with all type of veggies on it and of course, it had the secret meat sauce with a side of hot, fresh tator tots.
I have to admit, it was my very first Chicago dog and I loved it.
And at just over $12, I also loved the price.
“The next time you’re in Peoria Heights, stop by “The Other Dawg” because “You Gotta Eat.”
