25 Women in Leadership: Sara Weatherhead

The first thing anyone notices about Sara Weatherhead is her upbeat personality.

Sara works for the W. D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America. For the past two years, she has been doing double duty, overseeing both the Exploring Program and ScoutReach.

The Exploring Program is a career education program for young men and women ages 14-20 that allows them to explore different career fields. Sara mainly partners with local police and fire departments within her council, as well as Methodist College of Nursing. Explorers learn real-world career skills that help them determine their future.

The ScoutReach program serves low-income, at-risk youth in Peoria and provides them with Scouting supported by the United Way and other sponsors.  Many of these Scouts were able to attend Cub Scout Day Camp, the week-long camping trip to Cache Lake Camp in Canada, and Ingersoll Scout Reservation at no cost.

Sara oversees a talented staff who reach out to at risk youth at both schools and community centers.  Sara uses her relationships in the community to build a better tomorrow for youth in the Peoria and Bloomington area.

Let’s welcome her into the 25 Women in Leadership.
