EL PASO (WEEK) — The city of El Paso is the latest to ban cannabis business establishments, joining Morton and Naperville.
The ordinance passed 6-0 at the July 15 city council meeting.
Mayor JW Price said in an email the city has no information regarding any business attempting to open a cannabis business, “now with the ordinance, that will not be legal for them to do.”
“Local control was in the recent cannabis legalization bill and the city of El Paso, along with many more have taken advantage of that,” Price said.
Anyone violating the rule in Morton could face a fine between $250 to $750 for each offense. The village can toss on additional fines for each day the violation continues.
