25 Women in Leadership: Sharon Gramm

Where will you be on Saturday morning?

Those who know Sharon know exactly where she’ll be. Sharon is the Director of the Peoria Riverfront Association and has built the Saturday morning Farmers Market from 30 vendors to nearly 100 vendors. This event attracts approximately four to five thousand people each Saturday from throughout our region.

The Riverfront Market has indeed grown as a result of Sharon’s leadership. She also introduced additions such as the Chopped Cooking Competition, Yoga, ready-to-eat foods (pretzels, omelets, tamales) as well as a program that allows for the acceptance of Link payments at the Market to assist those utilizing food stamps. All these have helped to boost attendance.

Balloons, face painting, magicians and live music make this a true Peoria event and a whole lot of fun. Sharon is an advocate for Riverfront and Downtown businesses, working with various groups on issues such as parking, promotion, communication and planning.

Some call Sharon a miracle worker. When Sharon sees a way to make the Riverfront Farmers Market more successful, she springs into action. She even found a way to give back to the community.  The proceeds of every bottled water sold during the Riverfront Market goes to to local charity or to fulfill a community need. St. Jude, ALS, a service dog group and a family affected by a house fire are just a few of those who have benefited.

Join us in welcoming Sharon into the Women in Leadership.
