Peoria Irish Fest dates announced

PEORIA (WEEK) – The 39th annual Peoria Irish Fest will be August 23-25 this year. The festival, Erin Feis, is the largest Illinois Irish festival outside Chicago, according to a press release from organizers.

This year, the festival will have more than 40 performances on several stages. There will also be shopping and a Cultural Village with exhibits remembering the Irish diaspora.

Performers scheduled to play include:

  • Skerryvore
  • Jig Jam
  • Doolin
  • Seven Nations
  • The Gothard Sisters
  • Paddy Homan and the Noble Call
  • Kennedy’s Kitchen

In addition to performances, there will be kid friendly activities like crafts, bouncy houses, face painting, balloon art, and even experiments by the Bradley Chemistry Club.

For the adults, there are some more rugged activities. You can participate in the Highland Games on Saturday. That includes a sheaf toss, caber toss, and stone throws.

The event opens Friday, August 23rd, at 4:00 p.m. on the Peoria Riverfront Park along Water St. Kids under 12 get in free. Admission is $10 at the door as long as you get there before 5:00 p.m. After that it’s $12.
