UPDATE: Sheriff suspects texting and driving in fatal Brimfield crash

UPDATE (4:45 P.M.)

Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell says two vehicles collided in Brimfield this morning on the Princeville-Jubilee Blacktop in Brimfield just before 9 A.M..

One driver, a 70 year old man, died at the scene. The other driver, identified as 39 year old Lisa Gillam of Princeville, suffered what the Sheriff describes as major but not critical injuries.

She’s been issued tickets for reckless driving, using the wrong lane, and improper lane usage.

At this point the Sheriff says they suspect she was texting at the time of the accident.

The man’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.

UPDATE (3:30 P.M.) — Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said one man has died in the crash that happened just before 9 a.m. Friday (July 12) near Jubilee College State Park.

Two trucks collided just north of Grange Hall Road. The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The female driver of the other vehicle was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE (11:03 A.M.) — The Peoria County Sheriff’s department said the crash at the area of 10900 N. Princeville-Jubilee blacktop and Grange Hall is a fatal incident.

A member of the PCS told WEEK there was one person has died in the two-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews arrived on scene around 9 a.m. Friday (July 12) morning to what a City of Peoria official described as a “serious” crash in an earlier statement.

The area is closed to traffic.

BRIMFIELD (WEEK) — The intersection of 10900 N. Princeville-Jubilee Road and Grange Hall is currently closed due to a serious crash, according to a City of Peoria official.
