Five hundred women raise money for prostate cancer

Over 500 woman gathered to raise money for prostate cancer today at an event called the ‘Female Friday Funday Float’.

It all started six years ago when some women just wanted to do something fun on the mackinaw river. The ladies start the fun at the american legion. Then they get rides to the river where they spend the afternoon riding canoes and kayaks. 6 years after it started women come from lots of states to participate. Each woman has to raise 50 dollars to participate and they’re all supporting someone fighting prostate cancer.

“People they love are fighting it right now so they are here for a whole other reason and this has probably the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life, the best thing you know to help people,” Event Organizer Kim Williams.

All proceeds go to prostate cancer center of Chicago they hope to raise around the amount they raised last year $23,000.
