Six hours, two shootings, three victims – PPD kept busy overnight

A pair of shootings overnight Saturday into Sunday kept Peoria Police busy during oppressively hot summer temperatures.

The first shooting took place at 10:21PM Saturday, according to PPD Spokeswoman Amy Dotson, in the 2700 block of West Trewyn – better known as Harrison Homes.

It’s not known if this shooting was connected to last Sunday’s fatal shooting of Bronzell Howard, or another shots-fired incident from July 19th.

A 19-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life-threatning, and was uncooperative with police.

Then, at 4:08AM Sunday, police were called to the 100 block of NE Perry Avenue for a large group of people arguing after a nearby bar closed down.

When officers arrived, they heard gunshots, and saw a suspect armed with a gun shooting at the crowd, who then fled on foot.

Two people were shot, their injuries non-life threatening. One was taken to the hospital, the second (who suffered a graze) was uncooperative and left.

A K9 unit and Police Drone have both been searching the area.

Anyone with information in either shooting should call Peoria Police immediately at (309) 673-4521 or
Crime Stoppers anonymously at (309) 673-9000.
