17-year-old arrested on 28 counts of burglary in Peoria
Police responded to an alarm at Wal Mart on University Street in Peoria early Friday morning. Glass doors were broken and surveillance video showed a suspect stealing items before quickly leaving. Peoria Police Detectives were able to use the surveillance video to identify a 17-year-old suspect who was later arrested on East Republic Street.
Upon investigation, Police say the juvenile suspect worked with others to commit 29 other burglaries at businesses since the beginning of the year. It appears as though the suspects used the same method to gain entry to those businesses, smashing glass windows and doors. The estimated damage to those businesses totals an estimated $100,000, not including any stolen items.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested for 28 counts of burglary and is being held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
