Romain family starting a summer camp for the arts

The State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant program awards $25,000 grants to 40 non-profit organizations to help neighborhood projects involved in education, safety and community development.

Last year’s winners – Johnathan and Nikki Romain – are the owners of Art Inc. They bought a vacant school building and transformed it into a Community Arts Center. Now they’re Introducing a summer camp focused on the Arts. Their mission is to inspire and empower children.

“A teacher brought me into musical theater and I want to be that teacher and that same person for another little kid and tons of little kids in this community, said Nikki Romain. “That was the emphasis behind it and also giving kids something to do during the summer and after school during those times where nobody is home there is two much stuff to get into. Having a good safe place to come to and create.”

To register children ages 11-14 for the summer camp you can visit the Art Inc website here.

If you have a non-profit organization and are interested in applying for the State Farm grant, you can visit their website here.

Voting for the grant will run August 14-23. The winners will be announced September 25th.
