Whole Woman’s Health in Peoria to shut down

25 News confirmed Whole Woman’s Health clinic in Peoria will close their doors. The clinic on University St. is an abortion provider.

In a statement from the President and CEO, Amy Hagstrom said:

“For four years, Whole Woman’s Health has been honored to provide compassionate abortion care to Peoria, Illinois, and the surrounding rural communities, where abortion is traditionally unavailable yet desperately needed. Whole Woman’s Health is committed to doing all that we can to serve the communities we are in, but unfortunately, it is no longer sustainable to keep our doors open in Peoria. We thank the residents of Peoria and central Illinois for welcoming us and trusting us to serve their community with safe, compassionate abortion care.”

Whole Woman’s Health declined to answer further questions about the timeline of the closure.

Whole Woman’s Health’s website states they provide abortions in addition to a variety of other women’s health services, listed here. It also states, “We are committed to destigmatizing abortion and creating safe spaces for all people, whether it’s within our clinics or in the communities where they live.”

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story said there is also a Whole Woman’s Health in Bloomington-Normal. There is not. We regret the error.
