A Peoria County Patrol Deputy was arrested Tuesday, according to Peoria County Sheriff, Brian Asbell.
Asbell said the deputy’s name is Adam King. In a news release, he said the deputy surrendered himself Tuesday on a warrant for unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
He posted bond and was released Tuesday. The bond was set at $5,000, with posting at 10%.
Asbell said King has been on administrative leave since Feb. 22, 2019. after a police report was filed with Peoria Police about suspected criminal activity while King was off-duty.
Illinois State Police was part of the investigation leading to King’s arrest Tuesday.
King is still on administrative leave as an internal investigation continues separate from the criminal investigation.
Asbell clarified that the leave has been paid since February, but that could change pending the internal investigation.
Asbell said King has worked for the Sheriff’s Office since January, 2017.
King will be in court June 6th.
