Residents eat, support a good cause at Peoria WingFest

Wing connoisseurs and lovers alike came out for some chicken wings at the 4th annual Peoria WingFest on Sunday.

Restaurants from all over the River City brought their chicken, special spices and sauces to the Riverfront to compete for the title of “Best in Show.”

Other categories included first place in hottest, traditional, barbecue and even exotic.

Attendees say that with so many good wings to choose from, it can be hard to cast their ballots.

“For the most part, most places have wings but to see them all like this also the amount of selections they have a lot to choose from,” Peoria resident Nick Renner said.

“Great variety. You think you’ve got a favorite then you try another booth and you’re like oh no this is another top,” Peoria resident Morgan Renner said.

The fest also helps people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities spread their wings as a portion of proceeds goes to help fund the organziaton “EPIC.”
