PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — It might have started as a catering business, but these days, Cracked Pepper is one of Peoria’s most popular sit-down restaurants.
That’s where I’m taking you for this week’s You Gotta Eat
There’s not much to say about the food at “Cracked Pepper” on West Glen Avenue in Peoria — except what you see is what you get.
Great looking food that tastes as good as it looks.
“Here you can get everything from a great salad and sandwich. We have soups, we have some very creative burgers. We have a great avocado burger,” said Shelby Higgins, the director of marketing at Spice Hospitality.
She says the employees at “Cracked Pepper” do just about every job needed to keep the business running smoothly. And you know what? It’s working.
“It’s just one big family here. It’s kinda how we like to do things. We’re just a nice cafe with some upscale options,” she said.
Check out some of the delicious meals made here.
Hot, fresh unique meals customers can’t wait to sink their teeth into.
“The portions are wonderfully adequate for everybody and delicious,” said customer Pat Schwarzentraub.
Head Chef Richard Lonkert stays pretty busy here, preparing everything from these tasty sandwiches, to soups, specialty salads and a whole lot more.
When I found out smoked barbeque jerk chicken was on the menu, I was all in for the spicy ride. And let me tell you…the jerk chicken had just enough kick to wake up my taste buds.
I also ordered the Cuban Paninis filled with ham, pork, pickles and Swiss cheese. That came with a side order of chili.
In case you’re wondering…I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting. But I did take a bite out everything on my plate.
